This book needed to be beautiful and have a light, organic look to the styling and layout. At the same time it is intensely technical and clarity of instruction was paramount. Finally, Macramé is trending again and it was important that the aesthetic was contemporary and not retro. I created a flexible grid to allow for different numbers and widths of columns depending on the flow of information. We brought some complimentary colours into the photography but always a lightness of touch so as not to steal the show from these intricate and subtly toned works. I commissioned external art direction and photography was shot on location and in our studio.
